We attended in early August to investigate a suspected leakage. We surveyed the whole establishment and as part of the survey we visited the onsite farm/dairy complex. The sub meter for the complex was not working but we could hear a large volume of water passing through the meter which raised our suspicions. We carried out an acoustic survey around the facility and eventually detected leak noise on an alkathene rising main in one of the buildings. There was no obvious large draw of water within the building so we listened around the outside of the building and we detected a water leak under the concrete farmyard. Our repairs team then carried out an excavation and they revealed a 2” long split in the pipe. Its repair delivered a reduction in consumption of 2600 litres per hour.
